In this "must see" work, seven of Australia's leading folk musicians present the new theatrical song cycle, “The Good Girl Song Project” written by Helen Begley. Based on the academic work of Liz Rushen, the work combines old fashioned storytelling with new celtic flavoured songs to recount a voyage taken by young women to Australia in the 1830's.
Penny Larkins (Vocals), Helen Begley(guitars and vocals), Jamie Molloy (concertina and vocals) and Penelope Swales (whistles and vocals), Sally Taylor and Carmen O’Brien (Fiddles) and Mick Gribben (Bodhran) take the audience on a voyage from Gravesend to Sydney where they are introduced to the immigration experience through the eyes of these young immigrant women.
